In the Khamovniki in the territory of the Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPSU), a monument to Vladimir Gerier, the creator of the first educational institution in Russia with a university program, will be erected. Artem Aleksandrov talks about why the sculpture, it would seem, is a completely consistent historical personality, was coordinated with a creak. First, because of the unsuccessful figure, a gymnasium student, then because of the deceased Minister of the Ministry of Emergencies.
The history of the MPSU begins in 1872, when Moscow higher women's courses were founded. They opened them on November 1, a professor at Moscow University Vladimir Derie.

The courses were informal, lasted 2-3 years, specialization was almost absent, and historical and philological disciplines prevailed.
But for Russia, the opening and such courses was a milestone, because they became the first educational institution for women in the country where they taught a university program.
Moscow Higher Women's Courses existed before the revolution, after which a second Moscow State University was created at their base, later renamed the Pedagogical.

Thus, we can talk about Vladimir Guerier as the founder of the MPSU, so there is nothing surprising in the fact that in the educational institution they wanted to perpetuate the memory of him. As a place for sculpture, they chose a green area on the territory of the university on Malaya Pirogovskaya Street near house No. 1. 25 million rubles from extra -budgetary funds of the university were allocated for the installation and improvement of the adjacent territory.
In 2017, an open competition was held in which the work of the sculptor I.V. Makarova . The installation of the monument was supported by the Ministry of Education, and the matter remained small: coordination in the Council of Deputies of the Khamovniki district and in the Moscow City Duma. But the deputies did not like the project of the monument.
As the municipal deputy Anton Alifanov explains, according to the standards, the university cannot erect a monument on its territory without coordination with municipal deputies. Although the customer is not obliged to coordinate with them the appearance of the sculpture (and only the place of its placement), the deputies are still asking for the concept to be sent to them.

“What was sent to us initially, last year, it was too homegrown,” says Alifanov. - It was an unprofessional image of the monument. In my opinion, with the help of the Paint program, they painted how the monument should look about and “glued” to the photo of the place where it should be located. Everything was somehow ridiculous and childish. As a result, we had a reaction: "Lord, what a rubbish, let's not agree on it."

After that, the MPSU rector (moss representatives responsible for the monument could not) decided to make contact with the deputies, organized a meeting with the sculptor and sent a full -fledged sketch of the monument along with the accommodation scheme.
By this point, the concept has changed quite much.
At the first sketch was a gymnasium student and a gymnasium student, sitting at a distance on a bench. In the updated version, the founding father of the MPGU did not change, but the “collective image of the student” in the form of a young man with a guitar was added to the girl.

The biggest change occurred with a gymnasium student. It was her new appearance that caused the majority of complaints. The municipal deputy Ilya Azar cursed especially strongly at a meeting.
According to the deputy Asia Tikhonova , who also voted “against” the installation of the monument, this part of the sculptural ensemble is “visually terrible”. It is not difficult to understand Tikhonov and other deputies. If, in the original version, a meek lady in an old dress was to sit next to the Gerier straight from the film “Siberian Barber”, then a gymnasium student from the late version looks like a sister of the infamous Alenka from Novovoronezh.
“As a result, we nevertheless agreed with a minimal advantage,” says deputy Anton Alifanov. -None of the versions sunk into the soul, but we argued, argued and voted. In the end, the monument is erected by university forces in its own territory, and not somewhere in a public place.

On December 15, the question of installing the sculpture was brought to the vote in the Moscow City Duma, where it was also not without resistance.
“Against” three people voted. Thus, oppositionist Daria Besedina explains his position by the fact that the “package” with a monument to the Herry of Moscow deputies was asked to vote for the monument to the recently deceased head of the Ministry of Emergencies Evgeny Zinichev.
- Why do we need a monument to Putin’s security guard (Zinichev worked for nine years in the FSO in the presidential protection unit - approx.)? As for the sculpture of Gerje, I did not delve into this question, to be honest, ”the deputy says.

Together with Besedina, the former and current members of the Communist Party faction Elena Shuvalova and Ekaterina Engalychev voted against the installation of the monuments, but the decision was made by most votes. The chairman of the Moscow City Duma, Yevgeny Shaposhnikov, did not forget to note that the Guerier was the vowel of the Moscow City Duma, where he headed the commission "On the Generals and Nebnings of the Public."
The ceremonial opening of the monument to the Guerier monument should take place on November 1, 2022, to the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the MPSU.
