Cheboksary activist charged with extremism

Cheboksary activist Alena Blinova was charged on January 13 under the article on participation in the activities of an extremist organization (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code). She is accused of participating in the Artpodgotovka movement, banned in Russia. She herself told OVD-Info about this.

On the morning of December 29, 2021, a search was conducted at Blinova’s house, during which equipment was seized. After this, the activist was detained and then released on her own recognizance.

The SOVA Information and Analytical Center indicates that in 2019 and 2021, Blinov was fined for publishing materials with the symbols of Artpodgotovka.

• Alena Blinova is a participant in the “Walks of Free People” and other protest actions. After participating in the “He’s not Dimon for you” rally on March 26, 2017, the woman was fired from the kindergarten for “repeated failure to fulfill her job duties.”
• In November 2017, Blinova was fined 200 thousand rubles due to a picket, in which, according to the activist, she did not participate.
• In January 2019, Alena Blinova left Russia due to political pressure. Why she returned is unknown.
