Leningrad region: residents of the village protest because of migrants

On January 22, residents of Karavaevo intend to go on a folk gathering against the construction of two barracks in the village for migrants from Uzbekistan working at the Gazprom gas chemical complex near Ust-Luga. The headman of the village Anatoly Kurov told the publication 47news.ru that the locals are outraged by massive development and are afraid of the quantitative superiority of visitors.

According to the headman, the owner of the site on which the huts were erected is a native of China Yang Ipin. He bought land to build a house, but instead two buildings appeared in the village to accommodate about 200 people.

Outraged residents turned to the administration of the settlement, which transferred the complaint to the district authorities. They sent a cadastral engineer to Karavaevo. He confirmed that 47 migrants have already been registered in the hut, but noted that the construction is being carried out legally.

Residents of the village complain that the new neighbors connected to the general transformer, which is why the light is turned off in Caravaevo several times a day. In addition, according to them, the owner of the site did not solve the problem with sewage, water and garbage collection.

Kurov said that in the warm season, Karavaevo lives 70 people, in winter - about 20 people. If the huts are completely populated, migrants in the village will become many times more than local. “People are afraid,” the headman notes.
