In the Arkhangelsk region, nine cases of infection with the Omicron strain were officially recorded, one sick - a two -year -old child. This was reported in the regional operational headquarters.

Seven sick from Arkhangelsk, one by one from Severodvinsk and Novodvinsk. The headquarters specified that the child first was hospitalized, but then they were discharged from the hospital. The rest of the infected are treated on an outpatient basis.

In total, during the pandemic in the Arkhangelsk region, more than 126 thousand cases of infection with a new coronavirus infection were revealed, more than two thousand people died.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that about 800 cases of “Omicron” infection have already been revealed in Russia, more than half of the infection in Moscow.

• The first cases of infection with the new Covid-19 strain in Russia were recorded on December 6, it was diagnosed with two Russians who returned from South Africa. By December 30, Russia revealed 103 cases of infection with Omcron.
• The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adkhan Goebreesus stated at a press conference that the Omicron strain and the Delta variant can cause a new wave of incidence of Covid-19 in the world.
