The court arrested the former photographer of Navalny's Moscow headquarters in the case of calls for terrorism

A court in Moscow arrested former photographer of Navalny's city headquarters, Alexander Strukov, due to comments on social networks. TASS reports this.

According to investigators, Strukov published comments calling for terrorism, including against “persons of Russian nationality.”

On January 26, about twenty security forces broke into Strukov’s apartment and conducted a search, seizing a laptop and computer hard drive. After the search, the man was taken to the police department for questioning and then placed in a temporary detention center (IVS).

January 31, 11:30 Alexander Strukov will stay in the pre-trial detention center until March 27, reports the First Department community of lawyers and human rights activists. The photographer is charged with articles about public calls for terrorist activities on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and inciting hatred or hostility on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code). The case was opened due to comments under posts in the Telegram channel of the publication Znak.com.

According to the resolution to initiate the case, the photographer’s comments began with the words “Glory to Ukraine!”, “Down with the power of the security officers...”, “Good morning everyone, down with Putin!” The expert who conducted a psychological and linguistic study came to the conclusion that the statements contain signs of inciting hatred and hostility towards persons of Russian nationality, and are also aimed at committing terrorist actions, the destruction of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, members of the United Russia party and call for assault on the life of Vladimir Putin.

• On June 9, 2021, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations. An appeals court later upheld this decision. Navalny and his associates were included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of extremists and terrorists.
• At the end of September 2021, the Investigative Committee announced that a case had been opened against Navalny and his associates, as well as other activists, regarding an extremist community (Parts 1 and 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). Later it became known that several other cases filed earlier against the politician and several key figures in his structures were added to this case. Currently, within the framework of one case, in addition to the article on the extremist community, there are also articles on the financing of extremist activities (Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code), on the legalization of funds acquired by other persons through criminal means (clause “b” of Part 4 Article 174 of the Criminal Code), on the creation of a non-profit organization that infringes on the personality and rights of citizens (Part 2 of Article 239 of the Criminal Code), and on the involvement of minors in dangerous activities (clauses “a”, “c” of Part 2 of Article 151.2). The case under the article on fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code),initiated against Alexei Navalny and his associates in December 2020, was not combined with others.
