Personal project from a photographer who survived to whom

At 3120, Gallery on the Petrograd side continues to show the exhibition project of the photographer Mitya Ganapolsky. The gallery introduced his pictures taken in the 2010s: the entire series was printed manually, earlier these photos were not exhibited. The exposition included 20 black and white works that depict people close to the photographer, the Scandinavia highway, the rooms of St. Petersburg apartments and New York Streets. Pictures show the life of Ganapolsky before and after the coma into which he fell after a car accident.

Graphics of Ivan Sotnikov

Ivan Sotnikov is a bright representative of the Leningrad informal art, co -founder of “new artists” and “Society of Fans of Painting and Drawing” (Olzhir). In his work, the artist used the techniques of many authors - from Pablo Picasso to Damien Hurst, combining them with Far Eastern calligraphy and his own visual methods. In 2015, a large exhibition of artist painting was held at the New Museum, and now the audience is shown its graphics.

Exhibition of portraits from sixties-artists

In the marble palace, the exhibition “Faces / Muzzles” was opened, organized together with the Moscow Museum Az. The project shows changes in the portrait genre that occurred in the second half of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century. The exposition was built around portraits and self-portraits of sixties-for example, Anatoly Zverev , Vladimir Yankilevsky and Mikhail Shemyakin. Last year, the project was already shown in Moscow, but for St. Petersburg the organizers modified the design project and expanded the circle of artists presented: visitors to the Russian museum can see, for example, portraits of Gleb Bogomolov.

Video art Lisa Bobkova

The new exhibition at Myth Gallery shows the video art of the artist Lisa Bobkova, known for her metal sculptures. Spectators can see several of her works, including video documentation of the performance “I am here”, which the artist spent in the winter in a deserted sandy career. In addition, the gallery demonstrates a video that received after communication with subscribers on Instagram: Lisa sent them personal letters and asked to document the reading of these messages.

History of library architecture in Finland

The Chief Library of Vybaga was built in 1933-1935 according to the project of the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. It is not surprising that it is here that the exhibition project “Constructing Consciousness” is shown, prepared for the Venetian architectural Biennale in 2018. Spectators are told about 17 libraries of Finland of different eras. From the earliest - the library of Richardinkat in Helsinki (1881) - to the very late - the Central Library of Helsinki Oodi (2018). A parallel program with film locations and online discussions was timed to the exposition.

The study of the graphic combinatorial system "Heptada"

“Heptada” is a graphic combinatorial system created in 1995 as a work of abstract analytical graphics. “Heptada” occupies a central place in the permanent exposition “Hermit of Archive” in the Kronstadt Italian Palace, and now there is also an exhibition dedicated to this work. The audience was presented with detailed comments explaining the system of analysis of graphic data and their possible interpretation. And in the blue hall, the museum shows circular graphic animation and light installation created by the curator and artist Mikhail and a cross based on the combinatorial system.

Books with Brodsky verses from the collection of Mikhail Baryshnikov

In the Museum "One and a half rooms" launched a new exposition dedicated to the friendship of the poet Joseph Brodsky and ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. They met in 1974 in New York after emigration from the USSR-and remained good friends to the death of the poet. They spent the last telephone conversation the day before Brodsky's death. "Behold, mouse!" He said to Baryshnikov. Museum visitors are shown by books that the poet gave to the dancer for many years. Most of them contain Brodsky's autographs and “Poems in case” written by him. These exhibits were presented to the museum by Mikhail Baryshnikov himself, they were complemented by documentary photographs and texts.

ABC from famous artists

In February, Kgallery will open an exhibition dedicated to art alphabet. In the 20th century, many authors created their own alphabets, thanks to which books intended for training became artistic objects. In the gallery on the Fontanka embankment, the works of famous Russian and Soviet artists will exhibit: “ABC in the pictures of Alexander Benois”, “Soviet alphabet” by Vladimir Mayakovsky, graphic sheets to the unrelated alphabet of the faith of Ermolaeva and Alexander Samokhvalov, Ilya Kabakov’s drawings Anatoly Markushi. Visitors will see the work of contemporary artists: Alexander Florensky, Anatoly Belkin, Nikita Alekseev.

Modern British photography

In February, the Rosfoto Center starts the festival of modern British photography, organized together with the A-I society, the Magnum Photos agency and the University of Greenwich. His program will include two exhibition projects: Personal Exposition of Mark Power “Pictures from Home” and a group exhibition of modern British authors working with photography and video art. In addition, visitors will be offered a public program with creative meetings and online lectures.

Sergey Rusakov is one of the leading artists of the imperial porcelain factory, his exhibition in the General Staff is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the company's cooperation with the Hermitage.
