What happened

In Nizhny Novgorod on January 20, the Chechen security officials broke into the apartment of the former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Sayy Yangulbaev and his wife Zarema Musaeva. They presented a decision to bring spouses to interrogation as witnesses in the fraud case using an official position (part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to human rights defenders, the security forces beat the spouses and took away the wife Yangulbaev without warm clothes and the necessary drugs (she has diabetes) in Chechnya.

The committee against torture recognized the actions of the security forces illegal, since the spouses' drive was appointed on January 24.
