Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian government is discussing a proposal to lift quarantine for people who have been in contact with patients with coronavirus infection. The president said this at an online meeting with members of Delovaya Rossiya.

According to the President, such a proposal appeared taking into account the peculiarities of the course of the disease associated with the omicron coronavirus variant. Putin said that Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova recently discussed this problem with employers and trade unions, who have their own concerns about this.

“The general conclusion is this: even restrictions on so-called contact persons can be lifted in the near future to enable people to continue their work in peace.”

At the same meeting, Putin announced that there were no plans to introduce a lockdown in Russia due to the coronavirus. “Just last night, quite late, we discussed this topic with the Prime Minister [Mikhail Mishustin]. We broke up with him somewhere already, probably at two o'clock in the morning, we talked for a long time, including on this issue. The government has no such plans to introduce any additional restrictions,” Putin said.
