NATO Secretary General announced the increase in Russian troops in Belarus

Russia, according to Stoltenberg, threw about 30 thousand troops to Belarus, Su-35 fighters, Iskander missiles and S-400 air defense systems.

Speaking about the number of Russian forces near the borders of Ukraine, Stoltenberg said that according to him, it significantly exceeded 100 thousand people. NATO Secretary General noted that the alliance still calls on Russia to de-escalation of the situation around Ukraine.

On February 1, the US State Department announced the evacuation of the families of diplomats from Belarus and advised American citizens to abandon trips to this country. The main reasons in the department called "the arbitrary application of laws, the risk of detention and anxiety building up the Russian military forces along the Belarusian border with Ukraine." According to the State Department, increased tension is observed in the republic, and "the situation is unpredictable."
