Yuri Mann died

Today, February 4, at the age of 92, literary critic Yuri Mann died.

This was reported by the Department of Russian Classical Literature of the Institute of World Literature named after A.M. Gorky Russian Academy of Sciences (IMLI RAS).

“The world -famous specialist in Russian romanticism and creativity N.V. passed away Gogol, chief researcher at IMLI RAS, Doctor of Philology Yuri Vladimirovich Mann. Colleagues express sincere condolences. The time and place of farewell will be reported later, ”the report said.

Yuri Vladimirovich Mann was born in 1929 in Moscow, graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University (1952), candidate of philological sciences (1964, the theme of the dissertation “Creative method of Belinsky”), Doctor of Philology (1973, the theme of the dissertation “Gogol Realism and the problems of grotesque”).

It was published since 1954. The author of more than two hundred works, the editor -in -chief of the academic complete works and letters of N.V. Gogol in 23 volumes. The main works of Yuri Mann are devoted to the work of N.V. Gogol, Russian literature and criticism of the 19th century.

IMLI employee since 1964. Professor of the Department of History of Russian Literature of the Historical and Philology Faculty of the Russian State Humanitarian University (1997), Honored Professor of the Russian State University (2008). Member of the editorial board of magazines "Questions of literature" and "Scientific Review: Humanitarian Studies".
