The Russian Investigative Committee began checking the International Memorial Society after the Contact of the Veterans of Russia. It requires a “memorial” to be liable for the rehabilitation of Nazism. It is reported by RBC.
The chairman of the board of the company Jan Rachinsky said that he had already been called to investigators.
“Veterans of Russia” turned to the Investigative Committee and Prosecutor General on December 27, on the eve of the hearing about the liquidation of the “International Memorial” in the Supreme Court. Representatives of the movement in an open letter claimed that they found in the list of victims of political repression, which is the "memorial", the names of another 19 "Nazi accomplices, on whose hands the blood of civilians." The memorial has previously recognized a mistake in the database and corrected it.
The society categorically rejects the rehabilitation of Nazism and believes that the prosecutor’s office used the appeal of “Russian veterans” without any verification.
According to the article for the rehabilitation of Nazism, up to five years in prison threatens.
