The IC of Russia opened the case after the discovery of mass burials in the Donbass of civilians who died at the beginning of the conflict

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case of cruelty to civilian and prohibited means and methods of warfare (part 1 of article 356 of the Criminal Code) after the detection of mass burials in the Donbass. This is stated on the website of the department.

According to the investigation, in August-2021, five spontaneous mass burials were discovered in the territories of self-proclaimed DPR and LPR, of which the remains of at least 295 civilians who died as a result of indefinable shelling from Ukrainian armed groups in 2014 were exhibited.

The White House said that the information about the recently discovered mass burials in the Donbass can be disinformation.

Last year, the head of the “LPR” Leonid Pasechnik in an interview said that at least nine thousand people were killed in the territory of the two republics, four thousand in the territory of the “LPR”.

The head of the "DPR" Denis Pushilin reported more than five thousand killed civilians.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly specified that almost 15 thousand people died since the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass.
