In St. Petersburg, mortality from Covid is growing

Over the past week, mortality from coronavirus in St. Petersburg increased by 10 %, compared with previous seven days. This is evidenced by the calculations of the researcher Alexei Kupriyanov, based on official statistics.

From February 10 to 16, 483 people died from the coronavirus, and 436 over the previous week. According to the opera station, in St. Petersburg more than 70 deaths per day are recorded in St. Petersburg. On Wednesday, February 16, 75 deaths were recorded - there were no such indicators since November.

At the same time, the incidence and hospitalization are reduced in St. Petersburg - by 7 and 11 %, respectively. From February 10 to February 16, 121 thousand new cases were identified, and for the previous seven days - 130 thousand cases. Over the past week, 4494 people were sent to hospitals, and earlier - 5079.

Kupriyanov connects the inconsistency of trends with the “delayed dynamics” of mortality.

Demographer Alexei Raksha claims , based on indirect data, which in Moscow also significantly increased mortality from coronavirus over the past week.

WHO also announced the growth of mortality from Covid-19 in the world by 4 % per week. The number of identified cases of infection in the world at the same time decreased by 19 %.
