“Kansky teenager” Nikita Uvarov was registered in a pre-trial detention center as prone to extremism

Teenager Nikita Uvarov, who was sentenced to five years in prison in the case of "Kan teenagers", was registered in SIZO-5 as prone to extremism. This was reported by the head of the human rights group "Agora" Pavel Chikov.

Lawyer Vladimir Vasin, who visited Uvarov in SIZO-5 Kansk, found out about the accounting. It also became known that the young man began attending school classes in the pre-trial detention center.

On February 10, a court in Krasnoyarsk announced the sentences of three defendants in the case of the “Kan teenagers”. Nikita Uvarov was found guilty under the article on teaching terrorism (Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code), illegal manufacture of explosives (Part 2 of Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code) and their storage (Part 2 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to five years in prison.

Teenagers Bogdan Andreev and Denis Mikhailenko were released from liability under the article on teaching terrorism, as they cooperated with the investigation. They received suspended sentences under two other articles.

According to investigators, from October 2019 to June 2020, minors united and began to independently learn how to make and use explosive devices, training to use them in abandoned buildings and on wastelands.

• For the first time, teenagers came to the attention of law enforcement agencies after posting leaflets in support of the arrested anarchist and mathematician Azat Miftakhov : they pasted one of the leaflets on the FSB building. The schoolchildren were detained and soon released, with their phones confiscated. Having gained access to the teenagers' correspondence, the security forces learned that the schoolchildren had built the FSB building in the Minecraft computer game and were going to blow it up as a joke.
• The defendants were detained in the summer of 2020, when they were only 14 years old. From the moment of detention until May 2021, Uvarov was in a pre-trial detention center. The other two defendants in the case were under house arrest for about a year.
