How residents of Donbass are evacuated to Russia. Report "Medusa" from the Rostov region

On the evening of February 18, in Yasinovataya, it is a city located on the territory of the self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic - Siren sounded. The evacuation began.

“I grabbed a suitcase and children and went. We were jammed with a connection. My husband found out where I was going only when we were on the way. He did not know that I broke ... at six in the evening we left. [But only] at eight in the morning crossed the Russian border. There are huge traffic jams, ”says Medusa, a resident of Yasinovatova Christina.

She was brought to the Krasny landing farm 15 kilometers from Taganrog. By the morning of February 19, dozens of buses with refugees from the DPR gathered here. They placed the boiler plant evacuated in the children's camp. This item is designed for 750 people, but by noon, about one and a half hundred refugees were left behind the fence - they did not have enough places.

“It was our decision. We did not know what to do. We were confused, go or stay. We are not homeless, [in the DPR] we do not live at the station. We live in apartments with all amenities. Our families have a choice: to stay and wait for shelling ( the authorities of the republics claim that Kiev is preparing an offensive; the European Union does not believe in this - approx. Medusa ), or leave here. We were very mistaken when we chose to leave, ”Anna says regretfully; She also arrived from Donbass to a red landing.

Anna had the impression that no one was waiting for refugees in the Rostov region. “Have you seen the turn of the buses? We did not eat anything from eight in the evening. My children and I arrived. If not for children, we would not have arrived. In 2014, we did not leave ... Tired of sitting in the basements [during shelling]. And there is no one here at all, no one is responsible for this [work with refugees]. We wanted to know whether we will settle us or not, whether we will feed us ... We don’t even know where we were distributed. Where we were brought, they ended up there, ”Anna explains Putano.

She asks if it is possible in Rostov-on-Don to “find a rented apartment for ten people”: Anna's family and her friends no longer believe that they will be populated to the refugee camp.

“Give me a chair! Urgently! Grandma will fall! " - People scream in the crowd. Through the road from the entrance to the “boiler building”-an 80-year-old woman, she barely stands on her feet. But the gate does not open, there is no sound from the children's camp. Grandmother is picked up in her arms, she is helped to sit down. “I myself, myself,” she says, panting.

“In the morning dawn - and here we are. We have been standing for half a day. We were not ready for this. If we knew that it would be, we would not have arrived. We are adult idiots and still believe in a miracle. At first we were taken somewhere to another place. We were kicked out of there. Now the exit is closed back , and men are mobilized . I don’t know when we’ll get home now. We hope that Ukraine will not advance. We still have the hope that nevertheless, maybe we were taken out because Russia will officially go [to the Donbass] and we will be free. Can you imagine what naive we are? We are all just very tired of it, ”says another resident of Donbass sadly.

"We were told to dress decently"

A column of yellow buses, they are written "Children". In each - about 30 schoolchildren. At their feet are boxes of juice and bags with the logo of “United Russia”. Unlike adults, the children sit quietly and do not try to go out. All of them are pupils of the carrier boarding school, which was evacuated from Donbass one of the first.

Seeing journalists, most children turn away. But then several people still approach the door of the bus. Teenagers decide for a long time who will speak with the Medusa correspondent-and as a result they choose the elder Rusik, a lively 16-year-old guy in a black sweatshirt.

“We made home lessons. We were told to dress decently, collect decent things and get ready, ”says Rusik. “We were told that we watched the news.” There [the head of the DPR] Pushilin spoke that the Ukrainian army was coming. Then we built ourselves, went to the recreation center, everyone was evacuated. The traffic police passed, everyone warned everyone that evacuation. Nobody remained of the children. Only teachers. "

Cars are parked on both sides of the road, from the windows of which the TELE-2 and MTS flags stick out. Employees of mobile operators explain that “the authorities sent them to help people”-give out free SIM cards. “We first arrived, competitors repeated after us,” says TELE-2 employee with a laugh.

Near cars are lined up. Immediately at the fence there is a blue "Oka" with food; People try to reach bread and cookies.

The dispute between the evacuated and the drivers who brought them to Russia begins. The drivers ended with diesel fuel: they cannot go further. They also fear that a large bus column can cause the traffic police dissatisfaction. Tired women offer them money - but they refuse.

“I don’t know where to take you!” Who will let us go there? We are now leaving, the traffic police will immediately arrest us. We do not sleep the second day, and go another 130 kilometers! - The driver is boiling (what kind of destination we are talking about is unknown).

- And what? There are places where we will be accepted. In Aksai [a city in the Rostov region]!

- And where will I look for this aksai?

- You should have a navigator!

“I explain to you as a driver.” There must be the eldest. There must be a police escort. We do not want to prison. This is another state, here is not the DPR, it is harder here.

- And what should we do here?

- What should I do? I didn't sleep for a day. Where do I take you? I’ll go to jail, and you are in the Russian cemetery. That's all.

- I want to stay alive myself.

“Medusa” drivers explain that they came to Russia by order of the authorities from the Donetsk communal enterprise “Gorkommunervis”. Now they are not sure that they can return. “I have a family left there, I took strangers here, but now what, they won’t let me? - says one of them. “I will be raising that border, this republic.”

Camps and sanatoriums

Natalevka is located in the Rostov region, 20 kilometers from the red landing towards the border with Ukraine. The children's health complex "Sputnik" stands almost on the shores of the Sea of ​​Azov. Behind the fence, cardboard pioneers are saluted, the entrance is guarded by real policemen in helmets and body armor. About 20 cars with DPR numbers are parked across the road.

Roman came from Donetsk with his family. He managed to get out of Donbass before the announcement of universal mobilization in the republic: “I have a wife and a child, how will I leave them alone? As I learned about the evacuation, they immediately got into the car and arrived. I did not want to stay and risk my life. ”

A woman-she is about 60-near the entrance to the camp asks the police to call at least someone from the administration; They refuse. She explains that several of her relatives fled from the DPR on the night of February 19 - and they had to come here, but it is still unknown where they were. Employees answer that nothing can help. Then she breaks down into a scream; He says that he is “sitting on Corvalol” for a day and feels bad. Finally, the camp administrator comes to her. Women recognize each other. It turns out that the one who is waiting for relatives from the DPR, for 15 years worked in this camp.

Soon she finds out that relatives are also here. A girl comes out of the camp - she looks 30; They hug. At the same time, other refugees appear that go for products.

Places in the "satellite" also ended. It was possible to place 700 people from Donbass here. Those who did not have time go to the Zvezda sanatorium in the Hutor Hot - a few kilometers from Natalevka.

There are practically no people there. At the entrance there is a film group RT. Next to them are armed police officers who know nothing.

The biggest problem for the evacuated still remains an almost complete lack of information from the authorities. The exact number of refugee placement points are unknown, like the number of people who have come to Russia ( you can read more about this here ).

By the evening of February 19, the columns of buses from the camps located near the border went towards Rostov-on-Don. Where exactly they are taken and where they are placed is still unknown.

In the opposite direction, the military "Kamazov" went. On some it is written “people”, on others - “ammunition”.
