The regions of the north-west are ready to accept the evacuated residents of Donbass

The authorities of the Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad and Leningrad regions announced the readiness to accept the evacuated residents of Donbass. The arrival of the first group of 400 people in the Leningrad Region is expected on February 22.

People will come from the Rostov region. They will be placed in the wellness camps "Rosson" and "Mayak". It is planned that schoolchildren will be distributed to existing schools, and for preschoolers they will organize temporary stay groups in the camp. Earlier, the Leningrad Region authorities said that up to 1,500 people in two stages were ready to accept.

The Murmansk region is ready to accept up to 300 people from Donbass. Governor Andrei Chibis instructed officials to create an operational headquarters, as well as think over the places where to place people.

300 people are ready to accept the Arkhangelsk region. They plan to accommodate evacuated residents of Donbass in social protection institutions and temporary stay points in Arkhangelsk.

Earlier, the authorities of the Kaliningrad region declared their readiness to accept forced immigrants. Officials plan to place about 300 people in the region.

In general, 26 regions of Russia reported the readiness to accept the evacuated residents of the LPR and DPR.

• The heads of "DPR" and "LPR" Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik reported about the evacuation of civilians controlled by the separatists in the territory of Russia. According to Pushilin estimates, about 700 thousand people are planned to be taken out of the DPR.
• Later, both "republics" announced universal mobilization, forbidding men from 18 to 55 years to leave the territories controlled by separatists. It turned out that both appeals were recorded on February 16.
• Brussels called on Russia to de -escalation of the situation and withdrawal of troops from the Ukrainian border. The European Union also welcomed the restrained position of Kyiv. Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron said that he did not intend to respond to provocations in the conflict zone.
