Ex-Rector of UGTU sentenced to nine years in a maximum security colony

The court recognized the former rector of the Ukhta State Technical University Nikolai Tskhadai guilty of abuse of power and a large bribe, the press service of the Ukhta city court reports . He was sentenced to nine years in a maximum security colony with a fine of 25.5 million rubles and deprivation of the right to occupy senior positions in educational institutions.

58.5 million rubles were also recovered from Tskhadai in compensation for harm and confiscated 8.5 million received as a bribe. Tskhadai was taken into custody in the courtroom.

Tskhadai was detained on November 21, 2019. According to the investigation, in 2010 a former rector created a limited liability company on behalf of the university. Acting on behalf of the university, Tskhadai sold at the underestimated value part of the authorized capital of the LLC controlled by the persons, he later transferred part of the profit to them. As a result of the actions of the former rector, the university lost 11.7 million rubles. Also, the investigation established, in 2012 and 2013 Tskhadai received 8.5 million rubles as a bribe from a construction company for making a decision in its interests.

The prosecution requested 10 years in prison for Tskhadai. The former head of the university did not admit his guilt. In the last word, he stated that the texture of his prosecution was ridiculous.
