US President Joe Biden has ordered sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This is stated in a statement by Biden published on the White House website.

The statement does not specify what specific restrictions are being discussed.

"Today, I directed my administration to impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2 AG and its executives. This action is another part of our first round of sanctions in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine. As I have made clear, we will not hesitate to take further steps if Russia continues to escalate," Biden said.

He thanked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz "for his close partnership and... determination to hold Russia accountable for its actions."

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline runs along the bottom of the Baltic Sea from Russia's Ust-Luga to Germany's Greifswald. Its construction was completed in the fall of 2021.
In November, Germany temporarily suspended the certification of Nord Stream 2 AG as the operator of the gas pipeline. On February 22, after Russia declared the independence of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR, Germany stopped the certification process for Nord Stream 2.
The day before, the US had already announced sanctions against Russia due to the recognition of the DPR and LPR. They concern Russian sovereign debt, the state corporation VEB.RF and Promsvyazbank, their subsidiaries (including the CSKA football club), as well as the sons of three high-ranking Russian officials.
The European Union , Great Britain , Australia, Canada, and Japan also announced sanctions against Russia.
