Ukrainian government websites stopped working as a result of a cyber attack

The state websites of Ukraine - the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) - stopped working as a result of a cyber attack. This is reported by BBC Russian Service.

The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security of Ukraine told the publication that "another large-scale DDoS attack is happening now." Minister of Digital Information of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said on his Telegram channel that the cyberattack began at about 4 p.m. Kyiv time.

“There is relevant data from a number of banks, there are also problems with access to the websites of the Verkhovna Rada (already working), the Cabinet of Ministers and the Foreign Ministry. This is due to switching traffic to another provider to minimize the harm from the attack, ”he wrote (quoted by BBC).

To prevent cyber attacks on Ukrainian sites, a rapid response team of European experts (CRRT) was deployed. It consists of 8-12 specialists from Lithuania, Croatia, Poland, Estonia, Romania and the Netherlands.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine announced that there was evidence of Russia's involvement in a cyber attack on the websites of state bodies of the country on the night of January 14. Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told CNN that the Kremlin considers accusations of Russia's involvement in cyberattacks unsubstantiated.
