The State Duma adopted in the second reading amendments to the law on military service. They oblige citizens of draft age to come to the military registration and enlistment office on their own if they did not receive a summons during a spring or autumn call.
The agenda about the turnout at the military registration and enlistment office can also be handed over by the registered letter. The notification will be considered received if the conscript itself or one of his adult relatives signed in it, follows from the text of the bill.
Non -appearing or refusal to receive the agenda will be considered evasion of service, which implies an administrative or criminal punishment.
The authors of the bill proposed to free the police from the obligation to deliver conscripts to the military enlistment office. They will have to search and detain only those against whom they opened a criminal case due to evasion of service.
The last time the State Duma deputies considered amendments to the law on military service in 2018 - the document was adopted in the first reading. The date of the third, final reading is not determined, noted in the bill card .
It is assumed that the new law will enter into force on April 1, 2022, on the day the spring call is beginning.
