Magadan: The regional library presented a project about SevvoStlag

In Magadan, the project “Kolyma. Sevvostlag”, an electronic map of the correctional labor camp of Dalstroy, who won the competition of presidential grants, was presented in the competition of the Presidential Grants Fund.

“This is our excursion into the past, because we should even know the tragic stories of our Motherland,” the project manager Olga Grimailo told the Kolyma-Plus TV channel.

The project ’s website published information about the Heta mining factory No. 5, the Butugychag and Dagger mines, the Maldyak and Burkhala mines and several workers' villages of Dalstroy.

“For each of the hundred objects you will find reliable historical information. In [the project], employees of the Pushkin library, the local history museum and the state archive of the Magadan region took part in the [project],” Grimylo explained.

• Sevvostlag is a correctional labor camp, the structural unit of the Gulag, which existed on the territory of Dalstroy in the Magadan region.
