Biden announced sanctions against Russia

US President Joe Biden issued a statement on US sanctions against Russia following the G7 meeting. They boil down to the following points:

• Sanctions against banks . VTB, Otkritie, Sovcombank and Novikombank came under full blocking sanctions with the freezing of assets in the United States and a ban on working with them for all American (and European - under the threat of secondary sanctions) organizations.
• against Sberbank Limited, but also sensitive, sanctions were imposed : within 30 days, all correspondent accounts of Sberbank must be closed in the United States. This will deprive the largest Russian bank of the opportunity to make transactions in dollars.
• The US Department of Commerce imposed a ban on the export of high-tech products to Russia. The list will include semiconductors, computers, telecommunications equipment, lasers and sensors. Biden promised in his speech to block 50% of high-tech exports to Russia.
• 11 state-owned companies (state-owned banks, Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Transneft, Rostelecom and others) were restricted from entering the US capital market. This list also includes private Alfa-Bank and Moscow Credit Bank (MKB).
• Personal sanctions have been imposed against family members of Russian officials close to Vladimir Putin — the sons of ex-head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Ivanov (his son Sergei is the head of ALROSA), Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and head of Rosneft Igor Sechin. Top managers of Sberbank (first deputy chairman Alexander Vedyakhin) and VTB (deputy chairmen Andrei Puchkov and Yuri Solovyov) also fell under the sanctions.
• Disconnecting Russia from SWIFT "remains an option, but this position is not currently shared by Europe," Biden said in his speech.
• The option of personal sanctions against Vladimir Putin also "remains on the table," Biden said in response to a related question. And to the question “Why don’t you introduce them today?” did not reply.

Concluding his speech, Biden said that Russian-American relations are now completely broken, that Putin in reality never wanted security guarantees, but wanted the restoration of the empire (and this is exactly what the United States will never tolerate), and also called the Russian president a "tyrant" .
