Rimas Tuminas left the Vakhtangov Theater

Today, February 25, director Rimas Tuminas told Lithuanian Radio LRT that he had left the post of artistic director of the State Academic Theater named after Yevgeny Vakhtangov in Moscow.

According to Rimas Tuminas, this happened on February 9, LRT reports.

“If necessary, I will submit a document,” the director said.

Rimas Tuminas became the artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theater in 2007. He is also the founder and artistic director of the Vilnius Maly Drama Theater.

Earlier today, the Minister of Culture of Lithuania Simonas Kairis urged the director of the Vilnius Theater to dismiss Rimas Tuminas. “The director ... the theater is informed that tomorrow I am waiting for a clear and unambiguous dismissal of the artistic director of the theater R. Tuminas, or let the director put his statement on the table. Sorry, but the respected director is no different for me from a drunken Russian soldier stepping on someone else's land, ” LRT quotes the Minister.
