Eight years ago, in the late evening of February 27, 2015, Boris Nemtsov was killed by shots in the back in the very center of Moscow, near the Kremlin. Nemtsov was not only one of the brightest leaders of the Russian opposition, but also the organizer of the largest anti -war rallies over the past 10 years. In 2014, in the last year of his life, an undeclared war in Ukraine began, about which Nemtsov began to write a report “Putin. War, ”but he did not have time to finish him. Russian journalist Mikhail Fishman wrote about Nemtsov the book “The successor. The story of Boris Nemtsov and the country, in which he did not become the president, ”which in 2022 entered the publishing house Corpus. “... Wars are not without sacrifices. The first about the death of Russian soldiers in Ukraine was told by the Pskov newspaper Pskov Province. She published a report from the funeral of two Pskov paratroopers - it soon turns out that several dozens of Russian soldiers were killed during the fighting under the artillery. The events that are discussed belong to the final of the book: the penultimate chapter, the end of August 2014. The war in the Donbass has passed since the end of April, after the rebels pushed by Moscow captured the authorities in Donetsk and Lugansk and proclaimed independence from Kyiv, but in August, after the President of Petro Poroshenko, the Armed Forces of Ukraine surrounded Lugansk, went to the outskirts of Donetsk and were already in a step of victories. And then the Russian elite units entered the territory of Ukraine.
