Radio station Ekho Moskvy has been taken off the air. This was reported by its editor-in-chief Alexey Venediktov. According to host Maxim Kurnikov, Ekho was taken off the air in Moscow at 21:00.
Shortly before this, the Prosecutor General's Office announced that Ekho Moskvy and the Dozhd TV channel were threatened with shutdown and blocking of their websites. Soon, the websites of both media outlets became inaccessible .
The Prosecutor General's Office cited the alleged publications of these publications as "calls for extremism, violence against citizens of the Russian Federation, mass violations of public order and public safety, <...> the violent overthrow of the constitutional order" and "deliberately false information regarding the actions of Russian military personnel as part of a special operation to protect the DPR and LPR."
According to Venediktov, the radio station will challenge the blocking and removal from the air in court.
Ekho Moskvy programs continue to be broadcast on YouTube. Dozhd TV channel also broadcasts there.
