Russian and Belarusian athletes were removed from participation in the Winter Paralympics-2022

The “new” has always adhered to humanistic principles in matters of the participation or non -participation of Russian athletes in the largest international competitions. We never said “so we need!”, If this concerned pure athletes who innocently suffering for the sins of their compatriots. Even if the question concerned the confirmed facts of state participation in the affairs related to doping, we continued to protect the athletes. And they were especially careful about the Paralympicians - to the special projects of the “New”, dedicated to the fate of dozens of athletes, daily overcome pain and challenging fate, the best people of the country were involved. All this was on the pages of the newspaper and found a response not only in Russia, but also abroad.

We fought for the Paralympic, when pro-government publications and propagandists were already washing their hands-as it was on the eve of the Summer Paralympic Games-2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Yes, the International Paralympic Committee had reason to apply strict sanctions in relation to Russia. There were too many cases of the use of prohibited funds to ignore them.

The “new” then made an appeal to all the largest publications in the world with an urgent request to hear and convey our position to the world community and organizations directly responsible for holding the competition. Yes, there is a fault that lies, including in state structures, but it is impossible to deprive the dreams of everyone with a drop. We were heard, understood and supported on all continents. But, alas, this was not enough to cancel the unjust, in our opinion, a decision.

Now I have no arguments at all. There is a precipitate from the fact that the decision of the Ministry of Publics forces was made at the very last moment, immediately before the start of the games.

But to repeat about his anti -humanity, as well as to close the dead and two -time slogan “Sports outside politics”, today means one thing - to be hypocrite. When the guns say, everything becomes decisively politics. And they suffer - all.

You can discuss the “discriminatory” decision of the MPC as much as you like, bring the pros and cons, but such discussions need the corresponding time. Not as cannibalist as the present. There is no area of ​​life that is not affected by what is happening in Ukraine, it is useless to fence away from this. Ordinary criteria are not applicable.

The new in removal is the reluctance of many athletes to compete with Russians and Belarusians. Neither the IOC nor the PMC could order them to speak out a united front against the same people like them. Against colleagues in fate - yes, rivals on the tracks and on the ice, but united by the same purpose - to win, first of all, by themselves. I believe that most athletes who opposed the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the Paralympics did this with pain. This is not Russophobia, this is a normal human reaction to an unprecedented Russian “special operation”.

“Within the framework of the Paralympic mission, we are obliged to guarantee the organization of successful Paralympic Games, to ensure the predominance of the spirit of an honest game, a ban on violence, monitoring the risk of athletes and compliance with fundamental ethical principles,” the PMK statement said. If easier, then the presence of Russians and Belarusians in the Beijing Paralympics in the current situation may be a provoking and destabilizing factor. As stated in the statement of the Ministry of State Pedagogical Committee, "the situation in the villages is aggravated and has now become unacceptable." The athletes are not personally toxic, but the situation in which, thanks to their governments, the paralympicians were subject to sanctions.

I am very sorry for the athletes. But much more sorry for the killed and crippled in a week of barbaric, bloody and, in fact, meaningless action. We are all responsible for him to varying degrees.
