On March 2, in the Sverdlovsk region, five newspapers immediately came out with the covers calling for the “special military operation of the Armed Forces of Russia in Ukraine”. The newspaper New Kachkanar is not included in the VK-Media publishing group, but it is a member of the unification of independent media Syndicate-100.

In a joint statement by the VK Media newspapers, journalists reported that when issuing newspapers they did not commit violations of the law, and law enforcement officers did not take into account the rights of readers and partners, withdrawing circulations. Journalists also said that they would try to challenge the actions of the bodies that they present to them as an act of censorship prohibited by the Constitution.
At about 17.00, Julia Kravtsova, editor -in -chief of the new Kachkanar newspaper, was informed about the call from the police, which was released today with a black cover. Police officers told Kravtsova that by order she needed to go to the editor with them to "see the newspaper and find out her circulation." They are waiting for me now, ”Kravtsova said.
After a conversation with police officers, the editor -in -chief of the New Kachkanar said that until the newspaper’s circulation will be removed.
Since the beginning of the "special operation" in Russia, independent media have been closed one by one.
