Roskomnadzor demanded that Google remove the Echo of Moscow and Dozhd apps

Roskomnadzor demanded that Google remove the applications of the Dozhd TV channel and the Ekho Moskvy radio station from Google Play. Information about this appeared in the telegram channels of publications .

On March 2, the Prosecutor General’s Office demanded to block the Dozhd TV channel and Ekho Moskvy radio. The blocking was explained by the alleged “purposeful placement of information with calls for extremist activity and violence, the posting of deliberately false information about the actions of Russian military personnel in the DPR and LPR.” Soon after this, the websites of these media outlets became unavailable in Russia without means of bypassing the blocking. The radio station was taken off the air.

Today, the board of directors of Echo of Moscow decided to liquidate the radio channel and the publication’s website. At the same time, the publication will continue to work on YouTube and social networks.

• On February 24, Roskomnadzor demanded that the media write about the war in Ukraine only with reference to official Russian sources. Journalists were also prohibited from calling the “Russian special operation” an attack, invasion, or declaration of war. Otherwise, the supervisory authority threatened with blocking and fines of up to five million rubles.
• Since the outbreak of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, thewebsites of the publications“Current Time” , “Crimea.Realii”, New Times, DOXA, “Taiga.Info” , as well as Ukrainian media outlets - “Interfax Ukraine”, “Gordon”, magazine “ Correspondent" and "Ukrainian Pravda", TSN, "Segodnya", "Ukrinform", Zaxid, "Zerkalo Nedeli", Сensor.net, Vesti.ua, Depo.ua and Delo.ua - and the official websites of the Ministry of Health and Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
