Tomsk residents celebrated the anniversary of the abolition of serfdom in Russia. March 3 in history

On March 3, 1873, the first bookstore in Siberia opened in Tomsk. Its owners Pyotr Makushin and Vasily Mikhailov dedicated this event to the 12th anniversary of the abolition of serfdom in Russia. The store offered a selection of 2,000 books. It was the largest supplier of books for residents of Siberia and the Far East.

On March 3, 1903, the next anniversary of the abolition of serfdom in Russia was celebrated by students of the Tomsk University, Technological Institute and workers of the city. Uniting for the first time, they demonstrated along the main street of Tomsk. The demonstration was dispersed by the police.

On March 3, 1940, a commission of the Tomsk City Executive Committee signed an act of acceptance of the monument to the fallen fighters of the revolution on Revolution Square. The design of the monument was developed at the local branch of Zapsibproekt under the guidance of technician A. Marchenko.

On March 3, 1957, the House of Culture of the Tomsk Electromechanical Plant opened. The auditorium of the cultural center was designed for 520 seats. 5 rooms were equipped for group work. There was a billiard room, a library, a spacious cafeteria, and a lecture hall with 110 seats. 4 million rubles were spent on the construction of the House of Culture.

On March 3, 1986 , based on the results of work in the 11th Five-Year Plan, the Khimstroy management was awarded the highest state award - the Order of Lenin. And a large group of workers and engineers received orders and medals. In those years, Himstroy was the leader in the construction industry of the Tomsk region in terms of quality and volume of work.

On March 3, 2005, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Russia Kanwal Sibal arrived in Tomsk. During the two-day visit, the guest met with the governor of the Tomsk region, deputies of the regional Duma, representatives of local business and the scientific and educational complex. The ambassador and the Indian businessmen who came with him were primarily interested in cooperation in oil production and refining and in the creation of new technologies.
