Friends,
In connection with the events of the last week, the State Duma passed a law that sharply limits the opportunities of journalists.
This is not only about filtering and censoring materials related to Ukraine and the actions of Russian troops, but also about direct administrative and criminal prosecution of those media outlets, editorial boards and authors who talk about these events without coinciding with the official point of view.
All these years — first under the name OpenSpace, then under the name COLTA — our editorial staff of the site “about culture and the spirit of the times” have not presented them in isolation from each other. Writing only about culture, leaving society aside, does not seem possible to us. But freedom of expression has now been reduced to zero. And we consider it fair in such conditions to remain silent for a while.
We can't tell you how long this silence will last. But we hope it will be as short as possible. And that we will see each other on our pages and in our social networks soon.
Like many colleagues, we will be forced to make changes to some of the materials from last week, and even remove some of them.
Stay connected with us on all channels still available.
And until we meet again, may it be soon!
Your Colt
