In early March, the photographer Evgeny Menletka published pictures from the maternity hospital shelled by the Russian troops in Mariupol. The photographs in which a girl is saved from the destroyed building in the last month of pregnancy. Journalists quickly found that this girl was 29-year-old Marianna Vysoshemier (before marriage used in the social networks of the surname Pogurskaya and GIX), two years ago, who moved to her husband in Mariupol from Donetsk. Russian pro -government media named these personnel with the production of the model. The factor from the publication “verified” convincingly explained that this is not so. "Cold" found out the story of a girl whose photographs will forever remain one of the symbols of the war in Ukraine.
Marianna Podgurskaya grew up in Makeevka - a mining town next to Donetsk.
“Makeevka is a relatively small city,” explains Elsa Romanova, who knows Podgurskaya from the age of seven. “If you have an interesting appearance and you are sociable, you are already a celebrity.”
In 2009, Podgurskaya entered the Faculty of Economics at the Donbass National Academy of Construction and Architecture. During her studies, she played in KVN and participated in student beauty contests. “She always loved the beauty industry, various makeup and shows,” recalls the classmate of the girl Anna Myasnikova. “She participated in Donetsk in different clubs at the mods of the mod, and she was always engaged in the Institute for the sale of cosmetics.”

In the 2010s, many in Makeevka bought themselves the “SLR” cameras and tried to engage in professional photography. To fill a hand on the set, they were looking for girls with an interesting appearance. As Romanova explains, her friend Marianna Podgurskaya often agreed to such proposals-it was precisely because of this that she is now called the “model”, although she never earned the money on the set and was removed only on the terms of TFP (Time for Prints, the model of the model in exchange for the photos themselves).
In 2014, when Podgurskaya received a university diploma, war began in Donetsk. After some time, she met over the Internet with a resident of Mariupol Yuri Vysoshersky. In 2019, the girl came to visit him and because of the pandemic no longer returned: after a couple of months, Vyshechersky made Marianne a proposal, she became his wife, took his last name and soon became pregnant.

In Mariupol, the girl led a beauty blog on Instagram and earned an eyebrow correction procedure. After February 24, 2022, when the Russian troops invaded Ukraine, the Vysoshtimirskaya periodically published a story and said how her doctor joked: “Do not give birth to a commandant hour.” In her last story, the girl said that they have no connection and electricity.
The maternity hospital chose Vysosheirskaya before the war - and was supposed to give birth on the left bank, in the hospital No. 2. But when residential buildings in this area began to be regularly fired on, the girl was transferred to another place - the maternity ward of the hospital No. 3. Despite the advice of relatives, they did not want to leave the city of the Vysometera: they remembered the year 2014 and did not think that it would be worse. On March 9, when the maternity hospital was fired, Marianne had the alleged date of childbirth. “I think she was therefore on this terrible day there,” says Kuma of her husband Ekaterina Toky. “Of course, no one thought that a shell would fly from the sky.”

Most of the acquaintances of Marianne, with whom the "cold" spoke, do not believe in the storage of photographs. “It’s funny that she is called a model and an actress, whom she had never been,” one of the subscribers of the Vischera’s subscribers wrote. “I myself recently gave birth and I know that on the day of childbirth I would never have to pose to photographers for the sake of a fake,” another said.
Among the subscribers of the Vysoshtyri there are those who are embarrassing that in the photographs from the maternity hospital, the pregnant woman Marianne descends the stairs or leaves the ruins in pajamas, while the pregnant woman lies with others on a stretcher in other clothes. This explanation is simple: these are two different people. On March 14, it became known that the second woman died with the child.
Three days before, March 11, Marianna Vysoshermeirskaya gave birth to a girl.

It was not possible to contact the Vischemyr Cold family. Most likely, they are still in Mariupol-at the time of publication of this material in the city there is almost no water and electricity, and most of the remaining residents are hiding from hostilities in the basements.
