In Moscow, for the first time since the start of the war in Ukraine, a Russian was arrested accused of high treason

The Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow has arrested Russian citizen Yuri Abramov for two months in a case of high treason, TASS reports citing a law enforcement source.

The press service of the court told Interfax that Abramov was arrested on March 2. The interlocutor of the agency said that the man was charged under the article on high treason, which provides for 12 to 20 years in prison.

It is not known what exactly the arrested man is accused of - the materials of his case are classified. The hearing on the measure of restraint for the accused was held behind closed doors. The investigation did not comment on this.

TASS points out that this is the first known case of the arrest of a Russian citizen accused of treason since the beginning of the “military operation” in Ukraine.
