An unnamed concert promoter told Agency that he was banned from inviting a number of Ukrainian performers to perform in Russia, as well as Russian artists who spoke out against the war with Ukraine.
The Agency published a list of 22 artists to whom this requirement applies. Among them were Ivan Dorn, Svetlana Loboda , Vera Brezhneva, Monatik, the Okean Elzy group, as well as Boris Grebenshchikov, Valery Meladze, Maxim Galkin, Oxxxymiron and Noiz MC. According to the promoter, he was told that the performances of these artists were “extremely undesirable.”
The same list was given to a member of an unnamed musical group who performed at a Moscow bar over the weekend. Before the concert, the organizers gave him a list of musicians whose songs should not be played on stage.
In addition, the Agency points out that some artists have begun to take a written commitment that they will not use Ukrainian national symbols at concerts or speak out about “the special military operation being carried out by the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.”
