Four “USSR citizens” were detained on suspicion of extremism

Four residents of Makhachkala, who consider themselves "citizens of the USSR" - Zainala Abdulaeva, Tatyana Fomina, Ruslana Abdulaeva, Sharapa Davudova - were detained on suspicion of extremism. On March 12, “citizens of the Soviet Union” gathered in the office of the “Makhachkala Executive Committee of the DASSR” and the “Trade Union of the DASSR”. Later, employees of the Investigative Committee broke into the office, took away everyone's phones, confiscated equipment from the office and delivered it to the police department. Searches were carried out at Fomina's house and at Abdulaev's work.

"Citizens of the USSR" is a movement uniting fighters for the restoration of the rights of citizens of the USSR. The followers of the organization believe that the Union continues to exist, and the Russian Federation is a "trading company". Some of the Citizens of the USSR participants renounce any ties with Russia as a state, for example, do not sign any documents, notify local authorities of the need to vacate their posts.

In the summer of 2019, the Supreme Court of the Komi Republic recognized the Union of Slavic Forces of Rus', the USSR, as an extremist organization. He considered that the activities of this association are aimed at forcibly changing the foundations of the constitutional order and violating the integrity of the Russian Federation. The FSB, in turn, allegedly found branches of this organization in 30 regions of the country. According to the law enforcement agency, the Union of Slavic Forces of Rus' in 2018 consisted of 150,000 people.
