A court in the Moscow region sent a Ukrainian to a pre-trial detention center on a case of extremism due to a video on Instagram

In the Moscow region, a court sent a 25-year-old man, a native of Ukraine, to a pre-trial detention center on charges of inciting hatred or enmity with the threat of violence (clause “a”, part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) because of a post on Instagram. According to investigators, on February 24, the arrested person published a video that contains “signs of inciting hatred and enmity towards Russian military personnel with the threat of using violence and committing their murders.” Levchenko was detained in his apartment in Krasnogorsk. During interrogation, the Investigative Committee claims, he confessed and admitted his guilt. After the arrest, a video appeared in which he apologizes for the publication:

“Earlier <…> I posted a video on my Instagram social network account in which I spoke poorly about Russian soldiers. I made this statement while heavily intoxicated. I am truly sorry for these words. I apologize for this. <…> I will no longer allow such statements. I was wrong. Please accept my apologies,” says the man.

We removed the first and last name of the persecuted person at the request of his relatives.
