The American grocery delivery service Buyk, launched by the founders of Scooter, has filed for bankruptcy, Bloomberg reports citing its statement.
It notes that the company has stopped operations and plans to sell off the remaining stock. Buyk CEO James Walker said this month that the company is trying to find funding after withdrawals were restricted in Russia and are considering a sale. In the end, after exploring all the options to continue working, she came to the conclusion that it was impossible, Walker said.
After the start of the "military operation" in Ukraine, Buyk put Walker and almost all of its employees on indefinite leave - about 900 people.
The Buyk service was launched last year in New York by Scooter founders Vyacheslav Bocharov and Rodion Shishkov, as well as the former CEO of electric car maker Sergey Sulgin Arrival. This year the company expanded and began operating in Chicago.
Vyacheslav Bocharov last summer was a guest of Russian Norms! After returning from the Second Chechen War, he came to work as a manager at Magnit, where he stayed for 15 years and developed Magnit Cosmetics from scratch. After Magnit, there was a service for apartment buildings with a grocery delivery button called Shop, which he came up with with his friend Rodion Shishkov, a top manager at Russian Post. Subsequently, he became "Scooter".
