The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against journalist Alexander Nevzorov for fakes about the army due to publications about the Mariupol maternity hospital

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on fakes about the Russian armed forces (clause “e” of part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code, up to ten years in prison) against journalist Alexander Nevzorov, according to the department’s website.

According to investigators, on March 9 and 19, Nevzorov “published deliberately false information on his Instagram and YouTube channel about the deliberate shelling of a maternity hospital in the city of Mariupol by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”

The Investigative Committee added that Nevzorov posted “unreliable photographs of civilians affected by shelling” made by Ukrainian journalists.

“The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has officially announced the falsity of the information disseminated on the Internet,” the department emphasized.

On March 9, the Mariupol authorities reported that the Russian military carried out an airstrike on maternity hospital No. 3, and doctors and women in labor were injured. The Russian Ministry of Defense called it a “completely orchestrated provocation.”

Photos from the destroyed maternity hospital were also published by Ukrainian journalist Evgeniy Maloletka, who collaborates with The Associated Press .

Mariupol model Marianna Podgurskaya was included in the photo. Russian pro-government journalists and bloggers pointed out that the profession of a woman in labor indirectly confirms the Ministry of Defense’s version of a “completely orchestrated provocation.”
