Anatoly Chubais left Russia

Anatoly Chubais left the post of a special representative of the President of Russia on sustainable development issues and left the country. The departure was reported by Bloomberg with reference to two anonymous sources. According to the publication, the official expressed disagreement with Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The dismissal of Chubais was confirmed by RIA "Novosti" Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He stated that the official from Russia had left or not - his personal file.

Chubais became the highest -ranking Russian official who resigned after the start of the so -called "special operation" in Ukraine. Forbes magazine managed to get through to him, but he hung up after the question of leaving as he asked. The Kommersant newspaper reported that he was seen on March 22 in Istanbul.

The 66-year-old Chubais was the first deputy chairman of the government, the Minister of Finance and the head of the presidential administration under the President Boris Yeltsin. He was one of the key figures and the ideologist of the privatization of Russian enterprises in the early 90s of the twentieth century.

The former head of the administration of Boris Yeltsin Valentin Yumashev claims that in 1997, Chubaisa belonged to the idea to arrange Vladimir Putin to work in the administration, after which he moved to Moscow from St. Petersburg.

He is allegedly recommended to Yumashev as a reliable person. A year later, Yeltsin appointed Putin the head of the FSB, then-the Secretary of the Security Council, and after that-the Prime Minister. Putting this position, Putin became the acting president after the resignation of Yeltsin.
