The Kit newsletter, a new project from the creators of Meduza, has come under a massive attack

The mailing list Kit , a new media from the creators of Meduza, has faced an attack aimed at blocking its operation.

Starting from March 25, the attackers launched a mass subscription to the mailing list, over the weekend they tried to subscribe almost a million email addresses (on average, this is about 20,000 addresses per hour).

New readers receive an email from Kit to confirm their subscription and a welcome email with a text archive and instructions for setting up their mailbox. Since the "new subscribers" weren't really signing up for Kit, they started flagging emails as spam and complaining to email administrators, who responded by blocking the Kit project's email domain.

As stated in the project’s telegram channel, real mailboxes were used for the attack, and not specially created mailboxes. Most of them are on mail.ru and yandex.ru. Probably, the addresses used were included in one of the databases for spam mailings.

The editors of the project reported that a solution to the problem was found, and on March 29, Kit "will be released on schedule with another text for all our readers."
