The Khamovniki Court of Moscow granted the defense's motion and quashed the conditional sentence of director Kirill Serebrennikov, who had previously been found guilty of particularly large-scale fraud.
“The judge of the Khamovnichesky court, Mishchenko D.I., decided to satisfy the corresponding petition of the defense and cancel the suspended sentence of Serebrennikov K.Yu. before the expiration of his probationary period and remove his criminal record,” TASS was told in court.
The defense was able to file such a petition after Serebrennikov served more than half of his probation, paid a fine and compensated for damages in a civil lawsuit in favor of the Ministry of Culture.
In November 2021, Kirill Serebrennikov single-handedly paid 129 million rubles in the suit of the Ministry of Culture against the defendants in the Seventh Studio case. Together with compensation under the suit of the Ministry of Culture, Kirill Serebrennikov paid a fine of 800 thousand rubles, which was imposed on him by the verdict along with a suspended sentence.
