Investigators: Nemtsov was followed by killers who poisoned Navalny, Kara-Murza and Bykov

The Insider , Bellingcat and the BBC, in a joint investigation, established that politician Boris Nemtsov was followed by a group of FSB killers for several months before his murder. Security forces from this group, according to investigators, also took part in the attempted poisoning of politicians Alexei Navalny and Vladimir Kara-Murza and writer Dmitry Bykov.

According to journalists, the persecution of Nemtsov began in May 2014, after he began to actively support sanctions against Vladimir Putin’s associates. FSB officers stopped following the politician a few days before his murder on February 27, 2015.

The investigation is based on data from the ticket booking database. Journalists give the names of three FSB officers who followed Nemtsov: Valery Sukharev, Dmitry Sukhinin and Alexey Krivoshchekov.

Independent investigators believe that Sukharev took part in the poisoning of Navalny, Kara-Murza and Bykov; Krivoschekov also participated in the assassination attempt on Navalny.

• In August 2020, politician Alexei Navalny was hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning. He felt unwell on the plane flying from Tomsk to Moscow. Later, foreign medical organizations discovered in his analyzes signs of a chemical warfare agent from the Novichok group. A few months later, an investigation by Bellingcat and The Insider was published in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Foundation founded by Navalny, which named the names of specific FSB employees, according to the authors of the investigation, involved in Navalny’s poisoning.
• On February 11, 2021, journalists from Bellingcat and The Insider released an investigation in which they claimed that the same FSB officers as in the case of Navalny were involved in the poisoning of opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr. Vladimir Kara-Murza twice declared poisoning - in 2015 and 2017. Both times the diagnosis was confirmed by doctors. After one of the poisonings, the politician fell into a coma.
• On June 9, 2021, journalists stated in a new investigation that the writer Dmitry Bykov was poisoned in 2019 by the same FSB officers.
