The Dutch Heineken, which occupies more than 10% of the Russian beer market, has decided to finally leave Russia.
The company has already suspended promotion, investment and bottling in Russia under its own brand, but has now announced that it is leaving the country. This will be an "orderly transition" of the business to some new owner in accordance with all international and Russian requirements. Production at Russian factories will continue to avoid nationalization .
The company will continue to pay salaries to 1,800 employees until the end of the year. Heineken does not expect any profit from the exit - on the contrary, it warned of a write-off of 400 million euros. Quotes of Heineken fell by 2.2%.
Work in Russia was also limited by Heineken's largest competitor in Russia, the Danish Carlsberg. She stopped deliveries within the group to her Baltika plants. Anheuser-Busch InBev, the remaining member of the "troika" that controls the Russian beer market, has so far announced only that it will give up profits made in Russia.
