VPN services will provide Russians with free access to blocked media and social networks

Three VPN services — Amnezia VPN, Proton, and HighLoad VPN — have announced that they will provide Russians with free access to media outlets, social networks, and non-profit organization websites blocked in the country.

In this way, the services responded to the corresponding petition launched by the Roskomsvoboda project. It was signed by more than 64 thousand people.

In a statement, Amnezia VPN said the service will provide free access to Facebook, Instagram , Twitter, BBC News, Associated Press, Deutsche Welle , Radio Liberty , Euronews, TJournal, Meduza, Mediazona , OVD-Info , The Insider , Bellingcat , Google News, Alexei Navalny's website and other publications.

Roskomsvoboda has published instructions on how to connect to VPN services.

According to human rights activists , since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Roskomnadzor has blocked more than 800 information resources in Russia. Often, this is done at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, which sees the publication of allegedly unreliable information about Russia's military operation in Ukraine.
