The head of the DPR announced plans to consider the issue of the republic joining Russia

The head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, said that the DPR would consider joining Russia. He stated at a press conference in Donetsk that this issue would be raised after the DPR established control over the entire Donetsk region of Ukraine.

“As for joining the Russian Federation, as for desire and aspiration, they have been clearly traced since 2014 – the desire to be in Russia. But now the main task is to reach the constitutional borders of the Republic. Then we will decide, ”Pushilin said (quote from the Donetsk News Agency ).

On March 27, the head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, Leonid Pasechnik, announced that "a referendum will be held on the territory of the republic in the near future" on the entry of the LPR into Russia. Later, he clarified that now no one is preparing for a referendum, since the main goal is to “end the war.”

On February 22, the State Duma and the Federation Council unanimously ratified the treaties on friendship and cooperation with the republics.
