Ombudsman of St. Petersburg: In the city, an increase in the number of suicides is recorded

Since March last year, the number of suicides has grown in St. Petersburg. This was stated by the city Ombudsman Svetlana Agapitova with reference to the information and analytical center of St. Petersburg, reports ZAKS.RU.

Ombudsman brought the statistics of suicide growth during the annual report in the city parliament. According to Agapitova, in the first quarter of 2021 in St. Petersburg 75 suicides were committed, in the second - 97, and in the third - 116.

The most sharp surge was recorded among residents of 60-65 years, which, according to Agapitova, can be explained by the "psychological consequences of pandemia."
