OFAS checks the retail chains of Arkhangelsk due to the rise in price of sugar

The Arkhangelsk OFAS is suspected by the TAPAL and Athanasius retail chains of violation of the Law on Protection of Competition. The department believes that the networks have agreed to increase sugar prices against a background of increased demand.

The antimonopoly case has been instituted, if wine is proved, violators face a fine - up to 15 percent of annual revenue.

According to local media, sugar deficiency began to be felt in Arkhangelsk since the beginning of March. The regional government explained this by a five -time increase in demand for goods.

The day before, the Federal Antimonopoly Service announced the start of the audit against the five largest sugar distributors due to a sharp increase in prices.

Earlier, unscheduled inspections took place in relation to the largest manufacturers, a sugar facultist and association. According to the results of these checks, the department opened antimonopoly affairs against Pyaterochka and Magnit, as well as in relation to the largest sugar manufacturer of Prisiex.
