In Kyiv they said that Russia accepted the proposals for a peace treaty - except for the proposal on Crimea

Russia verbally accepted the draft peace treaty proposed by Ukraine at the talks in Istanbul, with the exception of the proposal on Crimea. This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian team of negotiators David Arakhamia.

According to Arakhamia, Kyiv is now waiting for Moscow to confirm its position in writing.

Arakhamia also said that now a group of lawyers and diplomats is preparing the final versions of the documents. Referring to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who spoke with Vladimir Putin the day before, he said that Russia considers the draft agreements to be sufficiently developed to hold a meeting between Presidents Putin and Vladimir Zelensky.

“Our task now is to quickly develop the final stage of those issues that we have already touched upon, and prepare a possible meeting of the presidents,” the Ukrainian negotiator said, noting that the meeting could be held in Ankara or Istanbul.

• The talks were held in Istanbul on March 29. During the talks, the Ukrainian delegation announced Kyiv’s readiness to abandon plans to join NATO in exchange for security guarantees, and to resolve the Donbas issue after the ceasefire during further negotiations between Putin and Zelensky. On the status of Crimea, Ukraine proposed to hold bilateral consultations for 15 years.
