A law on deprivation of liberty for the execution of Western sanctions was introduced into the Duma

The State Duma introduced a bill on criminal punishment for the execution of foreign sanctions in Russia. If the document is adopted, violators will face imprisonment for up to ten years. A criminal case may be instituted for refusing to work with Russian companies and banks that fell under Western restrictive measures.

One of the authors of the initiative, the head of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, Pavel Krasheninnikov, said that a number of Russian companies refuse to work with banks and enterprises that have been under sanctions due to the fact that they are also afraid to fall under them. "It is obvious that one of the goals of foreign sanctions is the destabilization of the Russian internal economy, the collision of the foreheads of domestic campaigns with each other. To prevent the worsening of the economic situation within the country, we offer amendments to the Criminal Code," the official explained.

Another author of the bill, the head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Law, Andrei Klishas, said on Monday that the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has already supported the initiative.
