"Medusa": RKN reported to the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of "protest moods" in the regions

Since 2020, the Roskomnadzor departments in the regions have been monitoring social networks and the media in order to create reports on "protest moods", which were then sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the National Guard and the Kremlin. This was found out by the Medusa publications and The Intercept.

The reports became known from the information leakage from the Roskomnadzor department in the Republic of Bashkortostan, which was posted on the website ddosecrets.com. The reports were created in the system of the "Cabinet of operational interaction" (Kov), which was officially mentioned in their documents by the department itself and the administration of the Ugra .

Reports were divided into several types:

• "Facts of destabilization of Russian society"
• "Protest mood"
• "Interethnic relations"
• "Information space"

Reports were submitted daily and monthly.

In particular, the reports on “destabilization” (for example, for March 2022) indicated posts and publications on several topics: “criticism of power”, “antimilitarism”, “activity of non -systemic opposition”, “distortion of history”, “sexual and other“ freedoms ”and“ legalization of light drugs ”.

At the end of the reports, statistics were given about the sources of publications that fell into the report - regional media, large publics on social networks, pages of politicians and their audience.
