Professor and teacher of the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions, Maria Rakhmaninova, quit from the university after one of the students announced to the rector that Rakhmaninova was discussing a war in Ukraine at a lecture. The monologue of the teacher was published by the publication "Vowel".
On February 24, Rakhmaninova learned about the start of the war in Ukraine on the way to work at the university. When she came to the lecture, she turned to students.
“I realized that if I can give a lecture, then only after a short introduction [on the topic of the political situation] that something terrible happened, in connection with which I won’t joke today. To be honest with the students - one of my rules. I turned to the audience:“ Dear colleagues, unfortunately, today is a very terrible day, we all woke up in the catastrophic state of the world. ” The moment, and at the end she added what the speech was up to: "In this connection, I do not feel able to be the same as usual. I ask you to treat this with understanding, ”the professor said.
During the break, students asked Rachmaninov to leave time so that they could ask questions about the history of Russian-Ukrainian relations. The teacher "Compressively spoke about the events in 2014 and what was later, whether Russia has objective reasons to fear NATO aggression and whether the Western world wants to capture it."
At the end of the lecture, an unknown Rachmaninova man appeared behind the students, who also listened to her.
A week later, she lectured at the same group.
“At a five -minute break, they called me from the dean’s [Faculty of Arts] and reported a student’s denunciation. They threatened me that they would take measures if I wouldn’t stop“ talking about politics, ”because“ university outside politics, ”Rakhmaninova said.
In the evening of the same day, a laboratory assistant message appeared in the working chat, which said that "no discussions of the political situation in the country are allowed." The chat participants, except for the head of the head and laboratory assistants, were blocked.
After that, Rakhmaninova wrote a dismissal application, she notes that she was forced to work out for another two weeks.
At the department to the question of the “vowel” about the reasons for the leaving the teacher, they explained that the dismissal of Rakhmaninova was her independent decision and it was connected with “insurmountable family circumstances”. To requests to confirm or refute the ban on talking with students about politics, the employee of the department replied that "this is the internal business of the university."
A statement of dismissal was also submitted by a colleague of Rachmaninova, Doctor of Philosophy Vyacheslav Kornev. According to Mediazona, Kornev was going to an anti -war action in the center of St. Petersburg, he called him the castleman of the department and reported that he was "called to the carpet" to the rector. In response, the teacher said that he had nothing to talk about with a "man of fascist views."
After the dismissal of two teachers of philosophy, March 18, two lectures were held at the university, including war in Ukraine. The university students surveyed by the Mediazone describe them as “propaganda”.
